4th Annual South Pasadena D.U.D.E.S. Pickleball Tournament Waiver, Release, and Terms & Conditions
1. Release of Liability
In consideration of being permitted to participate in the 4th Annual South Pasadena D.U.D.E.S. Pickleball Tournament ("the Tournament"), I, for myself, my heirs, executors, administrators, and assigns, hereby release, waive, and discharge The South Pasadena D.U.D.E.S., the South Pasadena Unified School District, its employees, and volunteers (collectively, the "Released Parties") from any and all liability for claims, demands, damages, or causes of action arising out of or related to any personal injury, accident, illness (including death), or property damage sustained as a result of participation in the Tournament.
2. Assumption of Risk
I acknowledge and fully understand that participation in the Tournament involves inherent risks, including but not limited to: minor injuries (bruises, sprains, dehydration); serious injuries (eye injuries, joint/back injuries, concussions, heat stroke, cardiac events); and catastrophic injuries (paralysis, permanent disability, or death). I knowingly and voluntarily assume all such risks, whether known or unknown, and accept full responsibility for my participation.
3. Indemnification & Hold Harmless
I agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the Released Parties from and against any and all claims, actions, damages, losses, costs, or expenses (including attorney's fees) arising out of or related to my participation in the Tournament.
4. Media Release
I grant the Released Parties permission to use my name, likeness, voice, image, or statements in photographs, video, audio, or any other media for promotional, marketing, educational, or archival purposes, without compensation or restriction.
5. Acknowledgment
I have read this agreement, fully understand its terms, and voluntarily sign it, giving up substantial rights, including the right to sue.
Tournament Terms & Conditions
1. Eligibility – Participants must meet registration requirements and, if under 18, have a parent/guardian sign this waiver.
2. Code of Conduct – Players must act in a respectful and sportsmanlike manner. Unsportsmanlike conduct may result in disqualification.
3. Health & Fitness – Participants are responsible for ensuring they are physically fit to play. It is recommended that players consult a physician prior to participation.
4. Equipment & Attire – Players must provide their own paddles and wear appropriate athletic attire and non-marking shoes.
5. Weather Policy – The Tournament may be delayed, rescheduled, or canceled due to inclement weather or unsafe conditions. No refunds are guaranteed.
6. Rule Enforcement – Tournament play will follow official pickleball rules as determined by the organizers. All referee/judge decisions are final.
7. Medical Consent – In case of emergency, I authorize Tournament staff to obtain medical treatment for myself or my child. I understand I am responsible for all related costs.
8. No Refunds – Registration fees are non-refundable unless otherwise stated by the organizers.
South Pasadena Middle School and SPUSD Policies
On South Pasadena Unified School District campuses, drugs, alcohol, tobacco, weapons, and dangerous items are strictly prohibited, and appropriate clothing that avoids offensive, revealing, or gang-related imagery is required. Bullying, fighting, vandalism, and disruptive behavior are not tolerated. By entering school grounds, you agree to abide by the South Pasadena Middle School and SPUSD policies.
